El Roser, Ciutadella de Menorca
The collection created by Fernando Rubió i Tudurí in Mongofra is the most notable example in Menorca of a cabinet of curiosities, a concept that appeared in the 19th century and was the origin of the modern concept of a collection.
Known as a compendium of the universe, Mongofra contains hundreds of rare, curious, beautiful and unique objects that have been accumulated over the years. The collection of silver and ceramic objects, hunting trophies, tableware, ethnic figures, antique maps, paintings, sculptures, furniture, shells and various objects was created at a time in which the village pharmacist was carrying out the biggest patronage work Menorca has ever seen.
This exhibition shows a selection of silver objects, malacology, ceramics and cartography, as well as the most representative from the arts collection.
